The new National Energy Strategy sets out ambitious goals for energy efficiency and sustainability
The Italian Government has recently presented the National Energy Strategy (SEN) 2017, a ten-year plan outlining the vision for the country’s energy transition and setting out ambitious objectives for energy efficiency, energy security, sustainability and competitiveness.
According to the plan, Italy should phase out coal-fired power generation by 2030 at the latest. The strategy aims to raise the share of renewable energies to 48 – 50 % of electricity consumption by 2030 (from 33,5% in 2015), 28 – 30 % in heat consumption (from 19 % in 2015) and 17 – 19 % in transports (from 6,4 % in 2015).
This means concretely a new boom in the sector. Opportunities for vendors for technologies and solutions for renewables, energy storage and energy efficiency.
